Tomaz Simatovic
Austrian-born Tomaz Simatovic is an internationally acclaimed artist.

The UNM Department of Theatre and Dance and SHIFT Contemporary Dance Collective present SHIFT/Solos, an event featuring the work of internationally acclaimed dance artist, Tomaz Simatovic and SHIFT co-directors Jacqueline M. García, Kelsey Paschich and Lisa Nevada. The event takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Orpheum Art Space located at 500 2nd Street.

Austrian-born Tomaz Simatovic presents “Springs,” a solo performance inspired by dissonance and polyphony found in the music from The Rite of Spring.

Paschich performs “Chatter,” a solo that is based on a stream of consciousness and García presents a solo excerpt from a larger work titled “Little lamb, it cuts both ways.”

Nevada shares the development of a work in progress titled “Ana’s prelude.” This piece is an exploration of history and the imprint of life experiences.
