Upon recommendation of the Presidential Search Committee and UNM’s search consultant, Isaacson, Miller, UNM Board of Regents President Rob Doughty will extend the current Presidential Search into the coming academic year.

“UNM has a highly-skilled leadership team, led by Acting President Abdallah, that is working diligently on behalf of the University,” said Board President Rob Doughty.  “The Presidential Search Committee knew that our initial search schedule was ambitious and would closely coincide with the end of the semester.  We are excited about our work thus far and current pool of candidates, and feel this approach gives us the best chance of achieving a successful outcome.”

The search committee expressed a desire to slow down the search process, as it would provide more time to review and evaluate candidates.  An extension into the fall semester, once faculty and students return to campus, ensures that all members of the campus community have the opportunity to fully engage in the search process.

“The committee has made a lot of progress over the last several months, laying the foundation to select a transformative leader who will advance our University,” said Board of Regents Vice President Marron Lee.  “We plan to complete the search process during the coming academic year, and will continue recruitment and due diligence efforts to ensure that we fulfill our statutory obligation to select five finalists who we are confident can lead UNM for the next decade.”
