Faculty, staff and students at The University of New Mexico can receive a discount to one of New Mexico’s longest-running and most cherished events – Run for the Zoo.

Hosted by the New Mexico BioPark Society and Bank of America, the 32nd annual Run for the Zoo is one of the largest, most exciting races in New Mexico, with a cap of 12,000 participants and five different run and walk options including: Half Marathon, 10K Timed, 5K Timed, 5K Fitness, and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk through the back of the Zoo.  

It’s all happening on Sunday, May 7, with a start and finish at the Albuquerque Biopark Zoo and free admission to the zoo for all race participants on race day.

UNM participants can sign up and receive a reduced rate by going to the race site  www.runforthezoo.org   Click to register for your desired race. You will then be asked , “Have a Sponsor Code?”  Please enter UNMRUN2017 and receive 20 percent off your entry fee.  

The annual Run for the Zoo continues to be a must-attend events for USATF athletes as well as non-competitive runners, walkers, friends and family of the BioPark. The various courses will take runners and walkers through the neighborhoods around the Zoo and the Bosque. Medals and awards will go to the top finishers, while all participants will received a colorful Run for the Zoo T-shirt.  Online registration continues through May 4.

Funds raised from the event benefit and support the city’s most treasured facilities – the Albuquerque Biopark Zoo, Aquarium, Botanic Garden, and Tingley Breach.
