Gov. Bill Richardson visits UNM Gallup on Thursday, June 17 at 12:30 p.m. to announce a $150,000 gift to the branch campus from the New Mexico Film Office. The purpose of the gift is to establish a long range vision at UNM Gallup where a partnership between education, the tribes and the profession could lead to a broadcast facility run by natives creating their own content and broadcasting on their own cable channel, said Jim Linnell, dean, UNM College of Fine Arts.
Sylvia Andrew, executive director, UNM Gallup, said, "We are grateful to the New Mexico State Film Office for including us in this funding initiative, and are honored that Gov. Bill Richardson will be presenting the check that will launch our efforts in this new and exciting direction."
