The paradise-like climate of Albuquerque makes The Championship Golf Course at The University of New Mexico a perfect oasis for golf anytime of the year. Designed by Robert Lawrence, The Championship Golf Course is 7,248-yard, par 72 course that challenges golfers to reach the rolling greens. The Championship Golf Course originally opened in 1967 and instantly became one of the finest golfing facilities nationwide.
The UNM North Course built in 1942, originally 27 holes, was the first course in America to break the 7,000-yard barrier. It measured 7,300 yards from the Championship tees and played host to the first professional tournament in Albuquerque in 1947.
