The International Studies Institute at the University of New Mexico presents “Forced Migration in the Mediterranean: Perspectives and Strategies,” a lecture by Panayotis J. Tsakonas, a professor at the University of the Aegean, Greece.

The lecture has two separate presentations, the first on Monday, Sept. 14 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the UNM College of Education building, room 105.

The second, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Collaborative Teaching and Learning building, room 110. Both lectures are free and open to the public.

Tsakonas will discuss the security repercussions of forced migration for both the European Union and South European states. He will present a detailed picture of how illegal migration has unfolded in the Mediterranean over the last decade.
