The 2018 UNM McNair Scholars Research Conference take place Thursday and Friday, Oct. 4-5 at the UNM Student Union Building.
This is a national research conference for McNair scholars from UNM and across the country. Undergraduate scholars will present their high-level research in a moderated symposium. These students will increase their chances of getting into graduate school by participating in the conference.
The McNair Scholars Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education at approximately 151 universities nationwide. This program prepares undergraduate students for doctoral studies. Participants are either first-generation college students with financial need, or members of a group that is traditionally underrepresented in graduate education.
McNair students are exceptional students that are selected through a competitive application process. The students conduct faculty-mentored research in this process. Additionally, the program has a STEM focus.
A few of the conference highlights will include a meet and network with scholars from all over the country, attendees will have the opportunity to present both poster and orally and the presentation will be evaluated by supportive faculty and graduate students.
Attendees can watch the poster and oral research presentations for free.
