With the need greater than ever, The University of New Mexico has again dedicated itself to the community through its annual giving campaign. The UNM Gives campaign is coordinated across various UNM campuses and hospitals. Faculty, staff and employees come together to donate time and money to charitable organizations in an effort to “change lives and circumstances” here in New Mexico.
The University has been a proud supporter of the United Way of Central New Mexico for many decades, raising millions of dollars since the campaign’s inception. Last year, the UNM Gives campaign expanded to include support options through the UNM Foundation, and the opportunity for participants to log donated time and talent to local nonprofits.
“The decision to participate is yours,” said Interim UNM President Chaouki Abdallah in a letter to fellow Lobos. “The community needs our help more than ever. The challenges we face in New Mexico are severe and unique, when compared to most cities in the U.S. We can only succeed in confronting these issues if we come together as a community for the community.”
This year’s campaign runs Oct. 2 through Nov. 17. Participants, at any giving level or opportunity, will be entered into periodic drawings for prizes.
To help kickoff the campaign, new and returning donors are invited to stop by the Karen A. Abraham Courtyard at Hodgin Hall Alumni Center—look for The U—from 8:30 to 10 a.m. for a free donut and opportunity to show support for this year’s drive.
