The 2010 ‘UNM Lives United' campaign for United Way is in the final stretch. The campaign officially comes to an end Friday, Dec. 17.
Gifts made after that will need to be made using a paper pledge form, which can be downloaded at, Pledge Form and sent to the UNM Controller office located in Perovich Business Center, suite 3100.
"The most difficult part of the campaign is ahead of us," said Marla Wood, chair of the UNM United Way campaign. "While we are closing in on $800,000, which includes $315,000 from UNM Hospital, we have nearly exhausted our repeat donors. To reach this year's $1 million goal will require an infusion of first time donors or of increases from existing donors."
With a $200,000 gap, there is a long way to go in a short period of time. More donors, giving whatever they can, ensures that the many needs of our community will continue to be met.
Whether you choose to donate to a UNM department or program, or a specific agency, non-profit or church, the United Way will help get your entire donation where you want it to go. Nothing is deducted because corporate Cornerstone Companies pays the 12 percent administrative costs.
Also, your United Way contribution is tax deductible. Give yourself a tax deduction and help our community at the same time. It's a win win.
