The University of New Mexico Music Prep School presents MPS Talks! Music in the Lives of Children— It Matters! on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Keller Hall at UNM’s Center for the Arts.

Professionals from the music world will give brief talks on different topics including parenting through music, music and the brain, and thinking like an artist. Also featured, will be the renowned international vocal ensemble Voces8. Voces8 is now established as one of the world’s most versatile and best-loved singing groups, and they are passionate about music education.

The day will also include activities throughout the UNM Center for the Arts, such as an instrument petting zoo, a participatory art project, making listening maps, and music games. Additionally, live music, refreshments, and swag bags for the kids will all be a part of the fun-filled day.

Founded in 1993, the UNM Music Prep School prepares students for a lifetime of music learning. The Music Prep School offers a wide variety of affordable music classes for Albuquerque area students, children through adult. Highly qualified music educators, many of them UNM graduates, teach classes. All classes are held in the UNM Center for the Arts (Popejoy Hall building) during fall, spring, and summer terms.
