The University of New Mexico University Chorus and Concert Choir, led by Bradley Ellingboe, and the UNM Symphony Orchestra led by Jorge Perez-Gómez, come together to present Giacomo Puccini's joyous Messa di Gloria on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Popejoy Hall on the UNM campus.
The concerts feature tenor soloist Javier Gonzalez, baritone Thomas Munro and Metropolitan Opera star LeRoy Lehr, bass, and will be conducted by special guest Maestro Silvano Mangiapelo from Italy. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and UNM faculty and staff and $8 for students and children and are available from UNM Tickets.
Puccini wrote the Messa di Gloria when he was only 18 years old. It is filled with the playfulness of youth and the melodic genius the world has come to love in his operas. Also on the program is his "Preludio Sinfonico."
