Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) recently began consolidating campus-wide D and E zone parking into a new zone, designated "R" for the upcoming 2012-13 academic and permit year. D zone parking is located near student housing at Hokona Hall and the Information Technology Department, and E parking is located near Redondo Village, at the corner of Girard and Central, and often serves as overflow parking for those with A lot permits. Those members of the UNM community parking in these areas might have noticed news signs informing them of the upcoming permit change. Those with D and E lot permits can continue to use them through the summer. But beginning Aug. 20, all D and E zone parking will officially become R zone parking and the D and E signs will be removed. This consolidation will simplify the parking experience for main campus resident students and the select staff who are eligible for this main campus parking.

In the revised configuration, main campus resident students will have the option to purchase either R zone or Lomas Structure permits, both at $300, for the fall and spring semesters, August 2012-May 2013. Permits will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis with sales beginning on July 23, 2012. Students may purchase their permits online at by clicking on "My Parking Account" or may purchase in-person at PATS' Main Office at 1621 Central Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 (NW corner of Central/University), Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
