One of Broadway's blockbuster musicals, "The Lion King," roars into the University of New Mexico's Popejoy Hall starting Tuesday, Oct. 2 through Oct. 28. Due to the musical's huge popularity, it's expected to bring a lot of visitors to one of UNM's most popular venues. With that influx of visitors comes a certain level of minor parking disruptions around campus. UNM Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) has already been preparing for the increase in traffic.

Those members of the UNM community visiting Popejoy for "The Lion King" are asked to park in the university's "G" parking lot on University Boulevard north of Lomas, or in one of the university's two parking structures, located at Yale and Lomas, or Redondo and Stanford. Keep in mind that the traffic around these locations will be more congested from two hours before showtime to one hour after the performance ends. These performance times can be located at The Lion King. Patrons are asked to ensure they arrive early enough to give them time to locate a parking spot and reach Popejoy to enjoy the performance.

Free parking and shuttle services are available at UNM's "G" parking lot. Those parking in one of the parking structures need to be aware that event parking rates, $7 at the Cornell Parking Structure and $5 at the Yale Parking Structure, begin two hours before show time. Shuttle service from the Yale Parking Structure to Popejoy Hall will begin 90 minutes before each show, and end one hour after each performance.
