Next week more than 1,100 visitors from more than 80 countries will make their way to The University of New Mexico for the 2022 International Association for College Admission Counseling conference. The four-day event takes place in person from July 12 -14, with pre-conference activities beginning Monday, July 11.

After nearly three years of anticipation, UNM staff, students and faculty are ready to gather in person and welcome all visiting school counselors, college admission and financial aid officers, enrollment managers, and all the different organizations dedicated to guiding students through the higher education transition process.

As UNM continues to find ways to increase enrollment numbers, University leaders recognize unique perspectives and vast experiences that our international students bring—enriching the lives of Lobos across campus. The conference will not only allow staff and faculty the opportunity to showcase why UNM continues to be a destination for international students but a chance to highlight the entire State of New Mexico as a whole.

As part of the conference, three fairs will be held in Johnson Center, as well as a series of recreational events for conference attendees including:

  • 5/3K run
  • Golf tournament
  • Dodgeball tournament
  • Drag show
  • Yoga
  • Raffle
  • Closing fiesta

UNM’s Global Education Office (GEO) is managing all of the logistical preparations for the event, in collaboration with many UNM auxiliary and academic programs and departments. GEO is in need of volunteers to assist in all different areas of the conference. Individuals interested must be 18 years of age and do NOT need to be a UNM student or employee. However, UNM employees can receive up to 4 hours of paid leave. Visit the ACAC volunteers to sign up.
