University of New Mexico President Garnett S. Stokes delivers her annual State of the University address online Thursday, Jan. 21 at noon. It will be streamed on the President’s website.
The virtual format allows the president to update the campus community while still adhering to COVID precautions.
The president’s third State of the University speech will address several themes including UNM’s roll in the community through health and higher education, research priorities, economic development initiatives, student success, University milestones and the sustainability of character during difficult times.
“As always, I value open communication with the campus community and the State of the University address is one way for me to ensure all our students, faculty and staff know the challenges we are facing and the obstacles we’ve overcome,” Stokes said. “Through creative and innovative ways, we’ve faced this difficult year together and I’m eager to tell you of the growth that is coming from it.”
Past addresses have informed listeners on current initiatives and future plans. Due to the unusual year The University of New Mexico, and the rest of the world, has experienced, this address will take a slightly different approach and tone.
It will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21 at noon and will be streamed on the President’s website.
It can also be viewed on the UNM Facebook page and UNM YouTube channel.
