The Association of American University Presses (AAUP) selected a book published by the University of New Mexico Press for the 2015 AAUP Book, Jacket & Journal Design Show. The AAUP announced the winners of the annual design competition this month.
UNM Press Designer Lila Sanchez was honored in the category of Jackets & Covers for Mono Lake: From Dead Sea to Environmental Treasure by Abraham Hoffman. Also honored for their work were Managing Editor and Production Manager Maya Allen-Gallegos and Art Director Lisa Tremaine.
According to the AAUP, “approximately 275 books, 325 jacket and cover designs, and 7 journals were entered. 46 books and 32 jackets and covers, and 1 journal were chosen by the jurors as the very best examples from this pool of excellent design.”
Winning titles will be presented at the AAUP Annual Meeting in Denver, June 18–20. The show will then travel to participating presses from September 2015 through May 2016. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the design competition.
