The first Wednesday of April is The American Heart Association’s National Walking Day. To promote awareness of cardiovascular health, The University of New Mexico's Employee Wellness is sponsoring a campus-wide, Walk Out on Work Wednesday event on April 4.

Employee Wellness is encouraging staff and faculty at UNM to become more active. By using their break time to add physical activity into their day, employees can make strides to improve their overall health and wellbeing. Walking is one of the easiest ways to start becoming more physically active, and requires very few additional tools or resources.

Participants can also become a Wellness Walk Leader in your area/department. The length, route, and time of day is up to you. Be sure to get supervisor approval. If you would like to be a Wellness Walk Leader, email Employee Wellness with your meet up time, location, and length of time/distance you will be walking for.

Employee Wellness will provide leaders with “I Walked Out On Work” stickers for distribution to participants. Walk Out on Work and lead your walk on April 4.
