The University of New Mexico Safety & Risk Services (SRS) recently hired four new staff members, including: Miguel Delgado, Emilee Soto, Joel Jackson and Joshua Padilla.

Delgado came to the university in 2013. He was recently promoted to interim manager of Risk Management, Insurance & Claims, at SRS. He oversees the planning, development and administration of all insurance and claims activities of UNM. Delgado also assists with various UNM Committees including the UNM Insurance Committee and the UNM Loss Prevention and Control Committee.

Soto is a claim specialist for UNM SRS. Her duties include processing, documenting and investigating workers’ compensation claims, and property and casualty claims. In addition, Soto is responsible for assisting with special projects related to claims litigation for Safety and Risk Services. She completed her undergraduate studies at UNM and recently completed her Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School.

Jackson is a claim specialist is responsible for assisting with special insurance projects and risk management initiatives aimed at reducing claim frequency and severity, in addition to claim related duties similar to Soto. Jackson previously worked for eight years as a Senior Liability Claims Adjuster with Farmers Insurance and is a graduate of Oklahoma State University.

Padilla is a professional claims intern who assists with Claim Specialist duties. He also assists the SRS Finance Team in various capacities. He previously worked with SRS as a General Services Assistant before accepting his new position. Padilla is a graduate of UNM.
