The University of New Mexico first developed an official university seal in 1898. The original seal resembled the Territorial Seal of the State of New Mexico.
The UNM Official Seal has undergone seven iterations and has been redesigned each time. The latest design was ratified and approved by the Board of Regents in 1969 and trademarked in 2010.
The University will be reviewing the official seal and would like your participation.
The Office of Academic Affairs, in cooperation with the President and Board of Regents, is hosting a series of public forums to gather input from alumni, faculty, staff, students and community members.
A UNM Seal Staff Forum is scheduled for Tuesday, July 12 from 12 - 1:30 p.m. in SUB Ballroom A.
If you are unable to attend the forum and would like to send your comments, e-mail: unmseal@unm.edu.
