The University of New Mexico is improving its communications efforts involving criminal activity as well as available resources for victims and or witnesses to crimes. One of the opportunities for improvement needing campus-wide attention is the increased communication of roles and responsibilities and of Campus Security Authorities (CSAs).
CSAs are defined by the Act as including campus police or security officers as well as institutional officials who have significant responsibility for student and campus activities. CSA's involve a large list of people from student organizations, residence hall advisors to athletic staff and coaches.
UNM is updating its list of CSAs in order to provide additional training to handle reports of criminal activity, and to direct students and employees to resources available for victims or witnesses to crimes.
