The University of New Mexico is a sponsor of Hispanic Heritage Month, an event that runs from Friday, Sept. 15 through Monday, Oct. 15. A press conference on Friday, Sept. 5 at 9:30 a.m. in the Old Town Plaza of Albuquerque kicks off the month-long celebration. The calendar of events for the Heritage celebration will be revealed at the press conference. Most events are free and open to the public.

Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry, and representatives of the organizations involved, have been invited to speak at the news conference as the community comes together. The keynote speaker will be Jennifer Gomez-Chavez, director, UNM Student Academic Success.
