The University of New Mexico Staff Council is now accepting nominations for the prestigious Gerald W. May Outstanding Staff Award.
This prestigious, presidential award recognizes individuals, but departments may nominate a staff member with one nomination form, signed by the group.
In 1990, UNM President Gerald W. May set aside funds specifically for staff recognition. A matching amount was also made available at the end of his tenure from the Regent’s Endowment Fund. These funds are used by the Staff Council to recognize outstanding staff members who have made significant contributions to the University of New Mexico.
This award is available to any permanent UNM employee, whose “primary” job is defined as staff, is at least .50 FTE, and has completed the probationary period.
Nominations are solicited from faculty, staff and students. The Staff Council Rewards & Recognition Committee conducts the screening process and makes recommendations, with the approval of the Staff Council Executive Committee, to the President of the University. The President of the University makes the final award selections. Three to five awards are presented each year and each recipient receives a monetary award and a plaque.
The awards will be handed out to the 2015 recipients at a reception, in their honor, on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015 from 3 - 4:30 p.m. in the SUB, Ballroom C.
The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9.
