The University of New Mexico Staff Council is gearing up for its third annual community volunteer project.
Last year, more than 100 UNM volunteers stepped up to help Roadrunner Food Bank (RRFB) during the holiday break and organizers say there are already 60 people who have volunteered this year. But, they’re looking for even more to assist RRFB on Monday, Dec. 28 to help sort and pack food for needy families throughout the community.
Volunteers can sign up for three different shifts during the day long event. The available shifts are 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 2 to 4 p.m. If interested in volunteering, email Mark Reynolds at firstname.lastname@example.org with your preferred shift(s). Interested participants should RSVP no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 15.
As chair of Staff Council Events, Reynolds says he looks forward to this event every year as a way for UNM staff members to give back to the community.
“It continues to amaze me on how the university community, their friends and family pay it forward by volunteering for the Roadrunner Food Bank year after year,” said Reynolds. “I start getting emails from volunteers in October asking if we are doing this event again.”
Roadrunner Food Bank is located at 5840 Office Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109. Volunteers should meet in the lobby 10 minutes before their shift begins to get an assignment.
