University of New Mexico Vice President for Administration and Chief Operating & Chief Financial Officer David Harris announced a nationwide search for the vice president for Human Resources. Amy Wohlert, UNM President’s Office chief of staff, has been appointed chair of the search committee. Currently, Jewel Washington is serving as interim vice president for Human Resources. The search finalizes the appointment for the permanent position.

Frank said. “A national search will help ensure that we have chosen the very best person for this critically important position, which touches the entire University.”
As chief Human Resources officer for the University, this individual in this position provides strategic leadership and direction to all facets of human resources management as it pertains to the University and its branches. This person is responsible for directing management of the various component activities of the University's Human Resources department, ensuring that all HR programs and initiatives are integrated and effective in supporting the overall mission, goals and objectives of the institution.
Additionally, the HR vice president will directly participate in institutional planning and decision making as a member of the University's Executive Cabinet, as well as provide broad administrative leadership and coordination to the University Administration Division.
The search chair is working to put together a diverse, strong committee and will be using a professional recruiting service to identify potential candidates. The application process has begun and the anticipated start date for the new vice president is Aug. 1, 2014.
