The UNM Young Alumni, in collaboration with UNM's Residence Halls, will host an old-fashioned sock hop Friday, March 30 from 7-10 p.m. at the Hokona Hall Cellar. Dedicated to raising awareness about homelessness in the greater Albuquerque-area, the Young Alumni Community Service Committee has set a goal to collect 2,012 pairs of socks, which will be distributed to area homeless shelters.
The event will feature a limbo contest, twist competition, 50's-themed costume contest, refreshments and DJ C-LoVe. New socks of any size, shape and color will be accepted as free entrance to the sock hop.
Sock collections will continue through Friday, April 6 at the Alumni Center in Hodgin Hall for those interested in donating and unable to attend.
For more information and to RSVP, visit Young Alumni or call Matthew Maez at (505) 277-4509 or email, firstname.lastname@example.org.
