Several upcoming educational community forums regarding the 2021 redistricting process in New Mexico will be held beginning Thursday, July 22. The “People's Power, People's Maps” campaign will be hosting three open community webinars that will help educate the public on tribal redistricting, prison gerrymandering and southern NM redistricting.

Tribal redistricting | July 22, 2021, 12 p.m. MST
Join NM Civic Engagement Table's educational webinar series on the upcoming 2021 Redistricting process in New Mexico. During this first webinar, space will be created to share historical context, knowledge, and understanding of how the redistricting process works and its importance for Native American communities living within tribal boundaries and the role of sovereignty through this process. The goal of this webinar is to define community interest with native leadership on the frontline. Language interpretation will be available. Zoom RSVP.

Prison gerrymandering | July 27, 2021, 12 p.m. MST
During this second webinar, a space will be created to understand prison gerrymandering in NM and engage in a discussion on the best ways to address legislative strategies and advocacy to push forward for reform. Language interpretation will be available. Zoom RSVP.

Southern NM redistricting | July 29, 2021, 12 p.m. MST
During this third webinar, space will be created to engage the southern NM community of interest to define how we wish our communities to look like and engage on how people’s power and people’s map is in an opportunity for southern New Mexico to uplift its needs and realities.
