The University of New Mexico's Parking and Transportation Services department announced recently that reduced fare rates for UNM students, staff and faculty on the New Mexico Rail Runner express have been extended through Friday, Aug. 31. The reduced fare rates provide an average discount of about 50 percent, depending on the type of fare purchased.

To take advantage of the reduced fare, UNM users must show their Lobo or HSC/UNM Hospital identification card to the ticket agent shortly after boarding the train. An additional discount is available to users who purchase their Rail Runner tickets online.

To review the current rates, visit: reduced rates. To review the revised schedule, visit Rail Runner schedule.

To make your connection between campus and the Rail Runner stop at the downtown Alvarado Transportation Center, PATS provides complimentary shuttle service once in the morning and twice in the afternoon. To view the schedule, visit complimentary shuttle service.

To work one-on-one with an alternative transportation trip-planner to learn more about how the Rail Runner can meet your transportation needs, visit or contact the PATS' Transportation Information Center (TIC) in the Lower Level of the SUB. The TIC is open Monday through Friday 8:30a.m. to 3p.m., 277-1920 or TIC@parking.unm.edu.
