UNM’s Bureau of Business & Economic Research announced John Thompson, director of the US Census Bureau, will be speaking at this year’s New Mexico Data Users Conference, Thursday, Nov. 19 during the morning plenary session.

Other speakers from the Census Bureau include Mike Ratcliffe, director of the Census Bureau's Geography Division, who will cover the history of geography topics at the Census as well as current GIS developments, and Barb LaFleur, from the Data Users Branch Customer Liaison and Marketing Services Office, will cover American Fact Finder and Census Business Development Tool.

Additionally there are 10 state and local experts on the agenda. Speakers for the conference include representatives from New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, City of Albuquerque, and The University of New Mexico. Topics for the conference range from demographics, population estimates, population forecast, mapping, GIS, education statistics, business data, employment and Open Source Data.

One week of early-registration remains at $55 per person. Registration after Nov. 11 is $65 and registration the day of the conference is $70. Registration includes all conference materials, continental breakfast, beverage breaks and a buffet luncheon.

The conference is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the CNM Workforce Training Center located at 5600 Eagle Rock Ave, Albuquerque, NM 87113.
