Mary Vosevich, director of the Physical Plant Department at UNM has been elected incoming president of APPA: Leadership in Educational Facilities (formerly the Association of Physical Plant Administrators). Her term of office will be 2012-2013.
APPA promotes excellence in all phases of educational facilities management, throughout the international education community. Its educational programs include the Institute for Facilities Management, a four track program focusing on general administration and management, operations and maintenance, energy, utilities and planning, design and construction. The follow up to the Institute is the Leadership Academy.
Vosevich has been the director of UNM's physical plant since 2000. She says, "APPA has trained many PPD employees, many of whom have achieved the certification of Educational Facilities Professional. The education they have received allows them to perform their duties at the highest level and address facilities challenges as they occur. Being in a leadership role with APPA is very rewarding and I look forward to leading the organization and its valuable contribution to all education entities."
