Lawrence Roybal has been named acting director of the LGBTQ Resource Center. As acting director, Roybal will oversee the mission and day-to-day activities of the center and ensure that its constituents have a seamless experience. The appointment is effective immediately.
“My goal is to make sure that during finals, the holiday season and beyond, our students and patrons of the LGBTQ Resource Center receive the same high level of support to which they have become accustomed,” said Josephine De Leon, vice president for the Division of Equity & Inclusion (DEI). “Dr. Roybal will be an excellent acting director of the center and representative for the Division of Equity & Inclusion.”
The resource center provides safety, education, advocacy and support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) students at UNM and offers a number of resources and services at the center and through outreach to the UNM community.
Roybal currently serves as the statewide director of ENLACE, a member of the leadership team for the UNM DEI and is a longtime University of New Mexico employee who has served in a variety of leadership roles.
