Domestic violence doesn't just come in the form of physical or emotional abuse, it can also be financial. That's why the Women's Resource Center at The University of New Mexico is holding a workshop on financial abuse in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
During the event, speakers Tara Hackel, a finance coach and founder of Adopt a Debtor, and Aine McCarthy, director of the Women's Resource Center, will explore common signs of financial abuse, finding safe people to talk with about money, resources for freeing yourself from financial abuse and predatory loans.
The event will be held at the Women's Resource Center inside Mesa Vista Hall on UNM's main campus Monday, Oct. 21, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
"Developing your financial wisdom & discernment is key to promoting self-reliance, boosting confidence, and setting yourself up for success," according to the flyer.
The Women's Resource Center is partnering with UNM's Center for Financial Capability.
