The University of New Mexico's University College and the Office for Support of Effective Teaching hosts a free workshop, "Helping Students Learn in the Research University" which promotes efficient methods of instruction to incoming freshmen Friday, July 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building, ballroom A.

Speaker, Britt Andreatta, who has more than 20 years of experience in freshmen academic affairs, discusses student transitioning, freshmen development, retention of the millennial generation and the qualities of successful first year courses.

Attendees are encouraged to read an excerpt from Andreatta's book, "Navigating the Research University: A Guide for First-year Students."
