Due to unforeseen circumstances, Yale Blvd. is closed just south of Central from now through Tuesday, Aug. 16. Southbound traffic on Yale can use Buena Vista Dr. SE to Gold Avenue SE as a detour, or Harvard Drive SE, Cornell Drive SE or Stanford Dr. SE to Silver Avenue SE as a detour during this closure.
Crews are schedule to reopen Yale Blvd. on the north side of Central (the entrance to UNM) by Saturday, Aug. 13. Regular work hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., however the contractor may work extended hours or on Saturdays if needed.
Access will be maintained to all businesses and to The University of New Mexico. Area residents and businesses will be notified in advance of any planned water shutoffs.

The scope of the project involves old water lines that are being “abandoned in place” when possible to minimize the impact on area residents and businesses. Any abandoned lines will be filled in for safety. The Water Authority also plans to replace any medians that it has to remove as part of this work.
The Water Authority is paying for this construction from its capital budget for replacement of aging infrastructure. Depending on costs, it may have to issue bonds, but this is a normal practice for capital projects and no rate increases associated with ART are planned at this time. The Water Authority is going through the normal process to have our work and traffic control permitted with the City of Albuquerque. No building permits are required.
For more information about ART call 398-4ART (398-4278) or visit BRTABQ.
NOTE: All construction is weather permitting and subject to change without notice.
