With love in the air, everyone is looking for their valentine this February.  However, with the Associated Students of The University of New Mexico’s Community Experience’s blood drive, you’ll always be someone’s type.

The Associated Students of the University of New Mexico’s Community Experience hosts “You’re Somebody’s Type” blood drive on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 24-25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Union Building Ballroom A.

In the United States, 38 percent of the population is eligible to give blood, while only two percent actually donates. While 38,000 blood donations are needed every day, a single donation can save up to three lives.

Blood donation areas will be set up in the SUB Ballroom A, as well as at the additional Bloodmobile outside the SUB.

“Donating blood is one of the most important things we can do for our community,” says ASUNM Community Experience Executive Director Lynn Midani. “I urge everyone to sign up for the blood drive because our community is constantly in need for blood and taking 30 minutes out of your day can impact so many lives forever, whether it be a patient or a patient’s loved ones.”

Participants are able to sign up in advance at Community Experience. Walk-Ins will also be accepted.
