Two years ago the College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences held a formal celebration to commemorate the acquisition of three million books. It took the University of New Mexico more than 120 years to accumulate that collection.

Provost Chaouki Abdallah has appointed Richard W. Clement as dean for the University of New Mexico's College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences. Clement is currently dean of libraries and adjunct professor of history at Utah State University.
