The new solar panels on Zimmerman will cover all the electric needs ofthe library, and any extra will be used elsewhere on campus. Through this solar array, UNM is expected to save approximately $25,000 per year and will reduce UNM’s carbon footprint by an equivalent of 15 metric tons of carbon dioxide yearly. 
A crane lowers solar panels on the roof of Zimmerman Library in preparation for installation as part of a solar array project between the Associated Students of UNM (ASUNM) and UNM’s Facilities Management. This project, initiated in 2019 by ASUNM, will be the 12th solar installation approved and installed since 2006. The installation is scheduled to begin Sept. 7.

The BeKind UNM Team joined UNM Athletics to deliver stuffed bears to the Albuquerque Police Department earlier this month. The bears were collected during BeKind UNM week in February and were donated to be given to kids who may be in traumatic situations.
People around Albuquerque are lighting luminarias to honor graduates of the UNM BA/MD program. Each bag has a student's name and field of study on it.
