The annual LoboTHON fundraiser is joining the wave of virtual events by inviting a 5-time TEDx speaker to speak to the UNM community.

LoboTHON is a philanthropic student organization that started in 2014 as a way to give back to the UNM Children’s Hospital. However, over the years. It has morphed into the largest student-led philanthropic organization on campus and has become a staple to the UNM community.

On Oct. 23, the University of New Mexico will be hosting a virtual LoboTHON event with a special guest Alex Sheen. His speech "Because I Said I Would" will be taking place at 6 p.m. via Zoom. Students and staff at UNM will have the opportunity to learn about keeping promises and integrity from an experienced speaker. Click here to register for the event.

Alex Sheen believes that every individual has the strength to become a person of their word. In this session, Alex will share his insights and actionable ways to become better at fulfilling commitments. He inspires others to become more accountable to their promises through compelling and real-life examples from the “Because I Said I Would” movement.

Alex convincingly illustrates how integrity and keeping promises are forever interwoven. He discusses how holding ourselves and each other accountable truly changes humanity for the better.

At the beginning of the year, LoboTHON leaders announced the goal for 2019-2020 academic year is to raise $111,000. Every year, LoboTHON's raises money and awareness for UNM Children’s Hospital. Efforts benefit 66,000+ miracle children being treated yearly at UNMCH to aid in their treatment processes and give every child the chance to be a Lobo.

LoboTHON leads fundraising opportunities throughout the year that ends with a 13-hour dance marathon on March 23 in honor of the miracle children at UNM CMNH.
