At a Hawaiian-themed ceremony, coordinated by the 2016 Student Affairs Fellows, the annual Louie Awards were given to outstanding employees in the Division who make a difference in the lives of students.

“This is a great way to honor our employees, which includes students, faculty and staff, for their work and dedication to our Division and the University throughout the year,” said Eliseo ‘Cheo’ Torres, vice president of the Division of Student Affairs. “Every year, the Student Affairs Fellows work very hard to make sure this ceremony is a memorable experience for everyone involved.”

Winners included:

Outstanding Service Providers (University-wide)
Linda Melville, senior operations manager, Global Education Office, and Elizabeth Barton, associate registrar, UNM Registrar’s Office

Fellow of the Year
Anna Trillo, student affairs specialist, UNM Dean of Students Office

Student Employee of the Year
Nandi Baldwin, UNM Women’s Resource Center

Student Affairs Employee of the Year
Natalie Brigance, executive assistant, UNM Vice President for Student Affairs Office

Community Service Award
College Enrichment Center employees - Kiran Katira, Vanessa Apodaca, Theresa Clark, Magda Dathe

Submissions for the awards were vetted by a committee comprised of representatives from various UNM departments. Traditional golden statues of Louie, the University’s mascot, were given to the winners in each category.
