The University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Center Book Club will discuss Pigs Can’t Swim by Helen Peppe on Thursday, April 27.

The HSC Book Club meets on the fourth Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. in the Dean’s Large Conference Room on the first floor of Fitz Hall at the UNM HSC..

Pig’s Can’t Swim is an outrageous, hilarious, and touching memoir by the youngest of nine children in a hardscrabble, beyond-eccentric Maine family. With everything happening on Helen Peppe's backwoods Maine farm, life was wild--and not just for the animals.  For more information on this month’s selection, visit Pigs Can’t Swim.

The UNM Bookstores offer a 20 percent discount to staff on HSC Book Club selections. The title for May is Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver. Additionally, both books are available at the Albuquerque Bernalillo Public Library.

Audio books are a convenient way to “read” when you don’t have time to read.  Download an audio book on your phone, computer or iPad using the Overdrive app.

The book club is an event organized by the HSC Staff Committee, and is open to everyone who enjoys reading and sharing ideas.
