The next meeting of The University of New Mexico's Health Sciences Book Club features Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skills by Mattieu Ricard on Thursday, Sept. 28.
The HSC book club meets on the fourth Thursday of the month in the Dean’s Large Conference Room on the first floor of Fitz Hall from noon – 1 p.m.
Drawing from works of fiction and poetry, Western philosophy, Buddhist beliefs, scientific research, and personal experience, Ricard weaves an inspirational and forward-looking account of how to begin to rethink our realities in a fast-moving modern world. With its revelatory lessons and exercises, Happiness is an eloquent and stimulating guide to a happier life.
This book is available at the Albuquerque Public Library in print and from Amazon and other retailers in Kindle, hardcover, paperback and audio or through the UNM Bookstores, which offer a 20 percent discount to staff.
The HSC Staff Committee organizes book club and welcomes all members of the campus community who like to read and share ideas.
The Oct. discussion book will be The Book of Speculation: A Novel by Erika Swyler.
