"New Mexico in Focus," KNME's one-hour public affairs series, looks at the firsts for New Mexico from the recent primary elections, on Friday, June 4 at 7 p.m. on KNME Ch 5.1 – no Sunday repeat this week; and will also air on KNME digital Ch 9.1 on Saturday, June 5 at 5 p.m.

This week's primary elections included firsts for New Mexico -- the first-ever female showdown for Governor, which also guarantees our state its first female chief executive. For the Republican Party, it's also the first time an all-Hispanic ticket is at the top of the ballot. UNM Political Science Professors Christine Sierra and Gabriel Sanchez break down all the election results.

"The Line" panelists will weigh in with election analysis and insight, plus predictions about the upcoming general election. Find out how New Mexico will play a prominent role in a national discussion about the federal budget and economy.

"New Mexico in Focus" is KNME's prime-time news magazine show covering the events, issues, and people that are shaping life in New Mexico and the Southwest. The one-hour show concentrates on bringing viewers important topics of our time, and opinions and insight in an integrated and cohesive package.

Hosted by Gene Grant, Weekly Alibi columnist, "New Mexico in Focus" takes a multi-layered look at social, political, economic, health education and arts issues and explores them in-depth, with a critical eye to give them context beyond the "news of the moment."
