Zimmerman Library, one of the most beloved buildings on the University of New Mexico campus will be featured in a documentary on KNME, channel 5.1 on Thursday at 7 p.m.  The documentary, “Zimmerman@75: The heart of the campus,” was produced by Aracely Chapa, director of multimedia services at the library.

Zimmerman Library opened in 1938 and has been in continuous use, available for generations of students at UNM.  It was named for James Zimmerman, a former president of the university.

Chapa, who produced and directed, worked on the project for more than a year so she could capture the changing seasons as she spoke with architects, students, artists, staff members and administrators at the College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences.

The documentary is a special project of the Center for Regional Studies. This trailer gives the flavor of the documentary film.
