Join us for an engaging week of events celebrating Open Education Week at The University of New Mexico (UNM). Organized by the UNM Open Educational Resources (OER) Group, these events are designed to raise awareness of current initiatives and honor the contributions of open educators across our campus.
Open Education Week is an annual celebration dedicated to sharing and advancing Open Educational Resources (OER). OER are teaching, learning, and research materials that are freely available to the public or released under an open license, allowing for their use, modification, and sharing.
By embracing OER, we can significantly reduce the financial burden of textbooks on students, making academic success more attainable for all. Join us in exploring the latest achievements in OER and learning how they can benefit both educators and students alike.

About UNM OER Initiative
UNM’s Open Educational Resource (OER) initiative seeks to provide faculty members with the support they need to adopt low and no-cost textbook and class material solutions for their courses when it aligns with their instructional objectives and academic freedom. We are planning partnerships with other higher education institutions and the State of New Mexico to identify resources and support for faculty initiatives in this area.
