The Associated Students of the University of New Mexico (ASUNM) is taking a stand against student homelessness.

As a part of ASUNM’s month-long student wellness initiative, Community Experience –an agency of ASUNM– organized Wellness for the Homeless to help Lobos who are facing housing insecurity.

“Homelessness doesn’t just include people living on the street,” said ASUNM President, Becka Myers. “At this time of year, it’s especially important that we focus the conversation towards students who may face housing challenges. Whether that means living out of a car or couch surfing during finals, I know many Lobos struggle finding a place to go home to each night.”

Through Community Experience, volunteers are filling resource bags with hygiene materials like soap, deodorant and feminine products. The bags include campus resources tailored specifically to students facing housing insecurity, and all the materials were donated by community members.

Any student is eligible to receive a wellness pack.  They are located all around UNM’s main campus including in the Dean of Students Office and the ASUNM office in the Student Union Building.
