Since 1929, The University of New Mexico has provided medical and counseling services to students in need. Known today as Student Health & Counseling, SHAC still delivers these services with extraordinary quality and value and wants to educate Lobos on all of its offerings with an Open House on Aug. 18 from 8:30–10:30 a.m.

“The Open House is an opportunity for us to inform students and their families of services as they settle in for the fall semester and to raise awareness among UNM faculty and staff,” said Dr. James Wilterding, SHAC’s executive director. “It will provide the opportunity for everyone to meet our professional staff and actually see where and how services will be provided when they come in for a visit.”

Along with the chance to meet SHAC’s staff face-to-face, the campus community will also have the opportunity to tour the facility and gain a better understanding of where to find the particular services you might be looking for.

“We want all Lobos to feel confident in seeking care at what is one of the most functional and comprehensive health clinics in all of Albuquerque,” said Wilterding.

There will be refreshments offered and participating students will be entered into a prize drawing. SHAC is located on UNM’s main campus (building #73 on the campus map), just east of the Student Union Building.
