University Libraries is sponsoring a donation drive as part of the UNM BeKind event that runs through Wednesday, Feb 17. Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless (AHCH) will receive the donations.

Donation boxes have been placed in Zimmerman Library, the Fine Arts and Design Library, Centennial Science and Engineering Library and Parish Memorial Library. AHCH is especially in need of socks, blankets, towels, hats, scarves, gloves, lip balm, sunscreen, toiletries and underwear. Items are needed for children as well as adults.

Library employees Nancy Bennett, Susan Hessney-Moore and Joe Lane organized the donation drive as part of UNM’s Be Kind effort hoping to raise awareness about this unique and important service in the community.

For more than two decades, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has served our community as the only health care organization in Central New Mexico dedicated exclusively to providing services to homeless people. AHCH provides critical services to over 7,000 men, women and children every year. By addressing the health-related causes of homelessness, AHCH makes it possible for people to find solutions to end their homelessness.
