The University of New Mexico Division of Student Affairs honor its best and brightest at the annual Louie awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 29 at 3:30 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom B. This year attendees are treated to “Carnival de Lobo Louie,” complete with masks and other goodies.
Winners of the Student Affairs Division-only student employee of the year, student community service, staff employee of the year, fellow of the year awards and the University-wide outstanding student service provider of the year award are announced at the ceremony. Each award recipient receives a golden Louie and monetary award.
The Student Affairs fellows coordinate the ceremony every year; winners are selected based on their service within the Division and their contributions to improving the lives of students at the University. The outstanding student service provider is a university-wide award open to anyone working at UNM.
“This is a great way to honor our employees, which includes students, faculty and staff, for their work and dedication to our Division and the University throughout the year,” Vice President for Student Affairs Eliseo Torres said. “Every year, the Student Affairs fellows work very hard to make sure this ceremony is a memorable experience for everyone involved.”
