The University of New Mexico 2011 Live United Campaign launches Tuesday, Nov. 1 with a goal of raising $1.1 million. The campaign runs through Friday, Dec. 16.

Students and graduate students are once again on board. With help from Chartwells, Paws for United Way will be on sale in the UNM Student Union Building for $1. Students may use cash or LOBOcash on their UNM IDs to donate to United Way at all of the Chartwell venues in the SUB through November. All of the money collected will go to United Way's Community Fund, which supports various organizations in Albuquerque and surrounding areas.

Giving opportunities exist in every area of UNM, as more than 2500 funds are eligible for a United Way designation. Please contact individual schools, colleges or departments for more information regarding their needs.

Here are some programs that would welcome your gift:

Pledge options include a monthly payroll deduction, a one-time annual gift via check or credit card or pledging online. This year continues the "nearly paperless" campaign. You will not receive a paper pledge form in the mail. In response to budget issues as well as in support of UNM's sustainability initiative, you are invited to consider giving to or through United Way at the secure online pledging site available through MyUNM. You can find instructions, as well as a downloadable paper form if you prefer, at

Remember that, thanks to the Corporate Cornerstones Program, which underwrites United Way administrative costs, 100 percent of your donation will go to help the people in our community who need it most.

Unite with your colleagues and co-workers to make a pledge to this year's United Way fundraising campaign.
