The University of New Mexico’s chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers-Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN) was recently selected to receive the Outstanding Chapter Award in recognition of excellence in their chapter administration and programs.
The award, given by the IEEE-HKN Board of Governors, is presented to IEEE-HKN chapters on the basis of their activities, community service and outreach, and the impact they have had on the department, the university and the community. Of critical concern to the Outstanding Chapter Awards evaluation committee are activities related to improving professional development, raising instructional and institutional standards, encouraging scholarship and creativity, providing a public service and generally furthering the established goals of IEEE-HKN.
UNM’s Delta Omicron Chapter is one of 27 chapters selected for outstanding performance and the value it brings to its members, peers and university. UNM’s IEEE-HKN faculty advisor is Jane Lehr.
The award will be presented to the UNM chapter on March 25 at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Heads Association Annual Conference in Tucson, Ariz., at a special reception hosted by IEEE-HKN.
