Lobo Louie and Lobo Lucy Visit The University of New Mexico is the perfect children’s book to help introduce young, future Lobos to campus life.
UNM College of Education Professor Marjori Krebs and her daughter, Taylor Potter published the book this past summer.
Potter is an executive coach and small business owner. After she had a baby in 2018, Potter and Krebs searched in bookstores and online for picture books about UNM. They wanted to find a children’s book that highlighted fun traditions on campus but "there were no books to be found.”
The mother-daughter duo decided to create one and Alma Mater Storybooks was founded. After a year of researching, writing, identifying a publisher, finding an illustrator and going through the licensing process, they completed their first book.
Krebs and Potter said they wanted to connect children with UNM in a fun and personal way by using mascots. Each page features a special place on campus, along with fun and interesting facts about Lobo Louie and Lobo Lucy’s favorite spots.
